Turemeric is a member of the ginger family and is ground into a bright yellow-orange powder and is used to flavor curries as well as vegetable, egg, and fish dishes. Turmeric is asignificant ingredient in curry powder and prepared mustard and is also used in Turkish pickling. It gives food a pleasantly bitter, mild flavor.
